As eighty percent of break-ins occur through windows, doors and skylights, perimeter protection is the first line of defence against an intruder. It is essential to provide electric perimiter protection to the openings and entry points of a building, including windows, doors, skylights and vents. Using a light source and a receiving element sensitive to change in light intensity, an alarm will signal when an intruder interrupts the invisible beam. Ranging up to 1000 feet, photoelectric beams not only respond to moving objects but also motionless human-like objects can be detected. A line of vertical photoelectric beams can also be produced to create a fence-like protection, as single beams can be walked around.

The Signature Security Power Fence system comprises a grid of alloy wire (2mm) about 90mm apart on 2.4 metre intermediate posts. The application piggybacks on existing cyclone fencing or other types of existing perimeter fencing. This electronic security works by a pulse being sent down the fence line every 1.2 seconds, thus checking on the security of your perimeter 50 times a minute. This information is fed back to an alarm panel via the energiser which can then report to the Signature  Security monitoring station. Intruders who come into contact with the electronic security fence receive a short, sharp, harmless but memorable shock and are deterred from entering the property.
